The year 7/8 cricket team today played Abertillery in weather which was more accustomed to a rugby match and came out victors by 14 runs . Ebbw Fawr batted first scoring 44 for 4 wickets off 16 overs .Captain Jonathon Powell opened the batting scoring 19 excellent runs with Brad Hale playing his first game for the school also contributing a solid 7.
It was then Abertillery’s turn to bat, they were restricted to a total of 30 runs off 16 overs . The Ebbw Fawr teams fielding and bowling was of a high standard in difficult conditions with Jack Freegaurd and Callum Joyce both returning impressive bowling figures.

Next Thursday the year 7/8 cricket team travel to Bristol Grammar School to represent Wales in the Chance to Compete Regional Finals which will be an invaluable experience for all the pupils involved.
