Over 120 year 6 students and their parents attended a very busy Open Night at Ebbw Fawr Learning Community’s secondary phase this week. Following introductions from Mr Harkness and Mr Collins parents had the opportunity to visit over 50 classrooms and technical areas with a wide range of activities on offer such as;
- In Science the normal Bunsen burners have been replaced by one that was linked to a music system, as the sound increased so did the flames.
- Languages students prepared a French meal,
- Design Technology had the latest laser cutting devices on show
- Interactive fun in Mathematics, English and intervention areas brought subjects to life
- Senior students in Drama and Music performed in the creative spaces and in the specialist areas bringing a street theatre feeling to the building

“It was a pleasure tonight to have the opportunity to bring my twins to see the school, your rooms and to observe some of the pupils work that you are delivering at the secondary phase. It was wonderful to have such a warm welcome and for the girls to be able to talk to staff and pupils. I think it was a very successful evening.”
Graeme Harkness, Director said :
“We are delighted with the turn out, given our fantastic facilities, superb pastoral and academic care and one of the best improved set of examination results in South Wales over the last two years it is no wonder we are becoming the school of choice for primary transfer.”
