“Recently, we have been most fortunate to have Donna Hardman, the Children’s Officer for Blaenau Gwent Library Service, to deliver three highly informative and engaging assemblies to our pupils in Key Stage Three (KS3).
In each of the assemblies, Donna addressed the pupils in a very approachable and friendly way. She explained the library services which are available to our pupils and then gave an opportunity for them to ask questions.
As a result of her broad based library work, she noticed a number of pupils who she knew within each of the year groups and acknowledged them during each of the sessions. Donna encouraged some of these pupils to explain how useful they found the library and then highlighted the different services available to them.
Donna reiterated the importance of the Library Services, and as a consequence of her very friendly approachable manner she made the facilities sound very appealing for a number of different reasons, dispelling the belief that the local library is only available for borrowing books.
As part of our drive to improve standards in Literacy at Ebbw Fawr Learning Community, we are most appreciative of her input and we hope that our youngsters will take every opportunity to benefit from the resources available to them in the locality”.
