At the end of my first year at the helm of Ebbw Fawr I’m delighted with this year’s GCSE performance. The school has seen improvements in every key indicator, which bodes well for the future. I am proud of every one of our pupils, and the huge effort they all made to achieve these results. I am particularly pleased with our Science and English results which both show very significant improvement. This is the culmination of a year of extremely hard work by pupils and staff and I’m delighted for them all. A special mention to Olivia Bird from Year 6 who achieved a B in GCSE English – what a result
This year has seen many changes to the GCSE exams here in Wales which makes any year on year comparison impossible and we won’t be in a position to comment on overall performance until more complete national data is available. However for our school these results come on top of an excellent ESTYN review and we will use this as a springboard for future improvements.
