On Thursday 14th December year 10 GCSE/ BTEC pupils will be involved in an internal practical moderation (lessons 1-3) and controlled assessment (lessons 4-5). Pupils must come into school in their PE kit. Swimmers/ Life savers also need their swimming kit and a spare t-shirt. They must meet in the Sports Hall at 8:45am where a register will be taken.
During the morning, every pupil will be assessed performing in three (or more) different activities, at least one individual and one team sport from the WJEC approved list. One of the activities will be the major activity which will include a personal fitness programme. This will give pupils the opportunity through set tasks and conditioned games/ scenarios to demonstrate skills, tactics, techniques and strategies within each activity. Each pupil will be assessed using set criteria, determining their practical marks which contribute to 50% of their final GCSE grade. Further information can be found on the WJEC GCSE PE website or by visit our twitter page ‘EFLC_PE’.
Pupils can also offer off-site activities for assessment. Off-site activities are those that do we do not do at the school and where it would be difficult to moderate “live” on moderation day. Appropriate DVD/digital evidence must be available for the performance of all off-site activities.
During the afternoon (lessons 4 & 5), pupils will complete their controlled assessment to plan a personal fitness programme with the aim of providing recommendations to improve performance in one of the practical activities in which they were assessed i.e. the major activity.
