Enterprise Week

For enterprise week, Class 3 decided to tackle the issue of ‘Plastic Soup’ in the oceans. They decided to make and sell ‘eco-bags, in order to reduce the use of plastic bags.

Unwanted sheets and duvet covers were very kindly donated by parents and grandparents whilst Tesco, Ebbw Vale donated £30 and Wilko, Pontypool donated £10, towards the cost of fabric pens and thread.

The whole process began after the children enjoyed reading a book called ‘Dear Greenpeace’, by Simon James. After this, the project snowballed with detailed research into sea pollution and recycling, writing fact files and letters, poster making, designing a fabric tote ‘eco’ bag and, finally, selling the products. Justifiably, the children have been feeling very proud of themselves and thoroughly enjoyed the whole process.

The children decided that all profits should go to Greenpeace, in order to support their work to clean up the oceans and raise awareness of this highly important issue, about which the children feel very passionate. So far we have raised over £55 in profit. Wefreiddiol Class 3! I am very proud of you.
