Dear parent/carer,
In order to keep you, your family and our staff safe and ensure social distancing, we are changing the way we provide meals to pupils living in and attending schools within Blaenau Gwent. From Friday 10th April 2020 all pickup and delivery of packed lunches will stop. These will be replaced by the delivery of food boxes to those parents eligible for Free School Meals. The meal box delivery will commence on Tuesday 14th April 2020. These boxes will only be for pupils eligible for free school meals. If you are experiencing financial difficulty as a result of the COVID-19 outbreak and your children are not entitled to Free School Meals you can obtain support via the following link where you can access information on options which may be available to you: https://www.blaenau-gwent.gov.uk/en/resident/emergencies-crime-prevention/local-help-support-covid-19/
Meals will be delivered to the identified families as follows:
- Tuesday – Tredegar, Hilltop and Rassau
- Wednesday – Rest of Ebbw Vale, Cwm, Brynmawr
- Thursday – Blaina, Abertillery, Llanhilleth and Sofrydd.
If when delivering the boxes the delivery driver is not able to obtain an answer, a calling card will be posted through your door asking parents/carers to contact us to rearrange delivery. If however we are unable to obtain a reply the 2nd time, the driver will not be returning.
The delivery of food boxes will run from Tuesday 14th April to Friday 1st May after which the Council will be introducing a weekly payment system to all families who children attend school within Blaenau Gwent and are eligible for free school meals. More information regarding direct payments will be issued to all parents/carers shortly.
