Year 7 Chromebooks

Dear Parents/Carers,

As part of our ongoing commitment to enhance the digital competency of our learners, all of our Year 7 students starting with us in September will be given access to a Chromebook device that can be used both in class and at home.

Having access to a device at home as well as in school ensures our learners can easily access curriculum resources and carry out research when completing homework as well as having access to the classwork if the learner is ill or missing school due to covid isolation periods for example.

Each chromebook will be accompanied with a charger and a durable case to protect the device when being carried around.  The learner would be expected to charge the device at home so wouldn’t need to carry the charger into school with them as the battery device can hold charge for up to 10 hours use.  Charging costs would be a maximum of 1p per day.

Inevitably with learners transporting these devices in and out of school some accidental damage could be incurred, and so we would require a £5 payment per academic year which will provide insurance cover for your child’s device.  Please note that any chromebook that is damaged maliciously will result in us seeking a full reimbursement from you for repair/replacement.
