Ebbw Fawr Parent, Teachers and Friends Association (PTFA) is made up of a group of enthusiastic and active people who work together to organise both fundraising and social events.
The PTFA’s main aims are:
We are run entirely through voluntary members and all the money raised through contributions or events goes straight into the PTFA fund. This fund directly benefits the children to buy playground equipment, resources, books and refreshments for school events, as well as many more things. We have also been known to buy ice creams in warmer weather!
Over the years the generosity of all those associated with Ebbw Fawr School has enabled the PTFA to donate large sums of money to worthy projects, such as purchasing an outside climbing structure and mobile climbing walls.
Due to the commitment and persistence of Ebbw Fawr PTFA, we have successfully carried on fundraising through these unprecedented times from class bubble parties and film afternoons, socially distant visits to Santa, our uniform shop and setting up an Easy Fundraising page and PTFA Pop Up Shop on Facebook.
Every September the Annual General Meeting takes place. All parents and staff are invited, and it is a great way to meet people for the first time and hear about the PTFA’s achievements and plans for the future.
Committee meetings are held roughly every 5 or 6 weeks during term time, and take place weekday evenings. You don’t need to be a member to help out – come along to a meeting to find out more.
Newcomers will be made most welcome.
In the informal atmosphere, the committee openly discuss activities and generate new ideas. It is at these committee meetings that school projects are considered with a view to PTFA Funding. In joining the committee, this is your opportunity to have your say. Committee meetings generally start at 7.30 pm and last for just over 1 hour. They are usually held in one of the classrooms every 5 or 6 weeks through school terms.
Being a member of the PTFA will give you lots of pleasure and enhance your family’s relationship with the school. Mums and Dads, Staff and friends all combine as individuals to form a friendly school community and as Year 6 parents leave the school, so new Reception parents join. Everyone is made welcome at any stage through their involvement with the school and it is never too late to get involved. We are always on the lookout for new members with new and fresh ideas or helpers to run a stall at a fete for half an hour.
Whatever you can put in – it will be appreciated.
Over the years the generosity of all those associated with Ebbw Fawr 3-16 has enabled the PTFA to donate many thousands of pounds to worthy projects. People have been very creative in coming up with new ideas to run alongside the tried and trusted events. We have a friendly relaxed approach to our meetings and welcome anyone to come along to see for themselves.
We would appreciate it if people could join our pages and donates items to help the wider community to support our school. Here are the links:

It is not all about raising funds all the time. The social events are equally important and give the children and adults the opportunity to enjoy many friendships at Ebbw Fawr 3-16. The school Disco, for instance, is very popular for all the children.
This success is firmly based on the team spirit which is much in evidence at all the events, whether it is for fund raising or, just as importantly, a social event where everyone can let their hair down! Many families have struck long-lasting friendships through PTFA activities.
You can be part of this successful team.
